Two teams of final year BA Accounting and Finance students travelled to the University of Liverpool in London campus on Monday 19th March to compete in an inter-universities audit competition. They were up against students from several other universities and MSc Accounting students from the London campus.

Students were required to pitch to win a contract for the internal audit services of Sheridan AV, a medium sized company looking to list on the London Alternative Investment Market.  International Professional Services firm, RSM, judged the competition with one of the Management School teams coming second out of the eleven teams.

There was also an assessed group exercise where participants had the opportunity to develop their presentation and teamwork skills, obtain feedback on their pitches and network with RSM staff.

Helen Scott, Director of Studies for the BA Accounting and Finance programme, commented: “This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to meet students from other universities and to apply some of the things they have been learning in lectures. I was really proud of our students; they presented in front of senior professionals from RSM and did a brilliant job. They all demonstrated excellent communication skills, business understanding and commercial awareness.”
