Management School students take part in Amplify Trading event

Management School students, who are interested in a career in the financial sector, recently took part in a financial industry training event with Amplify Trading.

The one day programme ran on 16th and 17th February with a separate group of students taking part each day.  Throughout the event, candidates were given insight into both the buy and sell side of investment banks and took part in a simulation to develop their understanding of a variety of financial roles.

Amplify Trading was awarded the global award for innovation in financial training by The CFA in 2015 and its financial market training is used by some of the world’s largest financial institutions including HSBC, Barclays, Credit Suisse and Bank of America.  The training event was designed to add value to students’ CVs by providing them with crucial practical skills needed to enter the financial industry.  All attendees received a certificate of attendance and were able to access their scores on the day.

Jason Laws, Director of Education for Accounting and Finance, commented on the event "We invited 160 students to participate in an interactive trading experience playing the role of Hedge Funds and Investment Banks.  The odds on securing a job were significantly improved for some of the attendees as the instructor has put four undergraduates through to the next stage for high profile jobs in banking.  The trainer also commented that our facilities of the McKenzie trading suite and nearby computer and seminar rooms are the best he has seen in the sector."
