On Thursday 9th February Wei Wei, International Internal Recruitment Manager for Hays Asia, visited the Management School to talk to Asian MSc students about their career prospects after they graduate.

Hays operates in 33 countries with 252 offices and 10,000+ staff globally.   Its Asia branch, Hays Asia, has 13 offices across 6 regions with 600+ staff.  As well as graduate roles, Hays also offers placements and internships to help give students competitive advantage.

Wei told students about his role within the company and spoke about the various skills required including building long lasting relationships with clients, persuading candidates that they need help job hunting and becoming an expert in a number of areas to enable in-depth conversations with clients and candidates.

Students heard about how working in the recruitment sector presents the opportunity to work with a range of global companies across a number of industries as well as the extensive training Hays can provide.

At the end of the session there was a question and answer session and students were invited to attend a ‘challenging day’ in London later on in the year where they can find out more about working for Hays.  During the day there will be more information about working for Hays as well as the opportunity to give a presentation and receive feedback in order to develop communication skills.

Xiaobei Wu, International Employer Engagement Officer at the Management School, said “It was very useful for some of our Asian students to hear about the type of career opportunities that may be available to them when they graduate.  This is just one example of the many ways our specialist careers service helps to make sure students are prepared for the global graduate opportunities and ready to flourish their career internationally.”
