Management School students attend live interview with Sir Terry Leahy

Students and staff from the Management School were recently invited to attend the BBC Radio 4 programme ‘The Bottom Line’ with presenter Evan Davis in conversation with Sir Terry Leahy, former CEO of Tesco.

Sir Terry spoke about his life, his successes and his experiences as well as his rise through Tesco and the challenges he faced.  He explained the role the club card played in the growth of Tesco the importance of Supply Chain management and maintaining supplier relations for companies the scale of Tesco.  There was also a detailed discussion about technology, its importance in modern businesses and how online companies can be used to regenerate North West industries.  After the interview there was a question and answer session which students were able to participate in. 

Lee Wainwright, Employability Projects Officer for the Management School,commented “It was great to see so many Management School students at the BBC Radio 4 recording asking interesting and informed questions to Sir Terry Leahy.  It was a good opportunity for students to hear what life is like for a current business leader, and to listen to his opinions on current affairs and business theory.”
