MSc Finance programme receives global industry recognition
The MSc Finance programme, taught at the University of Liverpool Management School, was successful in its application to the CFA Institute’s University Affiliation Program. Affiliated status is granted to institutions whose degree programmes incorporate at least 70% of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK). This provides a solid grounding in the CBOK, which positions students well should they plan to sit the CFA exams.
Delivered at the Liverpool in London campus, The MSc Finance and Management was the first of the School’s programmes to gain recognition in 2015. Programme Director, Phil Morey said: "Recognition of our MSc by the CFA Institute is tremendously exciting, as it both validates the aims of the programme and acts as a vitally important signpost for prospective students".
The CFA qualification is a globally recognised industry designation and affiliated universities are seen as a desirable postgraduate destination, offering programmes that provide a strong foundation in all aspects of finance as well as a practical knowledge of the finance sector.
The Management School is delighted that two of its MSc programmes are able to able to embed elements of the CFA Program’s CBOK into the syllabus. Recognition by the CFA Institute demonstrates the ability of these programmes to align with professional practice, thereby enhancing the employability of its students both in Liverpool and London.
Director of Studies for MSc Finance, Dr David Brookfield, commented: "I am delighted that the MSc Finance has joined the CFA University Affiliation Program. Membership of the CFA University Affiliation Program is recognition of the extent to which the Management School and CFA see a common purpose in educating future finance professionals. For our students, membership ensures that they receive an education in Finance that meets with financial industry expectations and will provide an important stepping stone in their careers”.
