The Management School welcomed the Head of Commercial Strategy of Peel Ports Liverpool to give a speech at a seminar on Challenges, Strategies and Development of Maritime Ports on the 3rd May.

Mr Stephen Carr delivered his session on “Transforming Logistics - The rationale for Liverpool2 & Inland Multimodal Logistics”. The session gave current students studying Operations and Supply Chain Management MSc and Programme and Project Management MSc the opportunity to learn in-depth knowledge about strategies to overcome the challenges in the logistics sector in general, and in maritime port sector in particular with the Port of Liverpool as a specific case.

The talk touched on the expansion of Liverpool’s ports with Liverpool2; a £400 million investment to create a new deep-water container terminal at the Port of Liverpool. Stephen explained what the project will enable and the opportunities it will provide, touching on Asia to North Europe trade results.

Peel Ports offer a cutting edge network of state-of-the-art facilities that will maximise supply chain efficiency while reducing costs. Working with clients, Peel Ports prioritise investment for the regions, commodity markets and facilities in areas that show the greatest potential for growth and integrate shipping to benefit the ports.

Students will have the opportunity to visit the Peel Ports site later in the month to further enhance their studies and knowledge of supply chain operations in this sector.
