A number of Management School students studying the Maritime Logistics module as part of the MSc Operations and Supply Chain Management programme attended the Multimodal Event in Birmingham NEC on 4th April 2017. Multimodal is the UK and Ireland’s premier freight transport, logistics and supply chain management event.

Multimodal represents every logistics sector under one roof, making it a unique and highly valued industry showcase. The event is characterised by key vertical sectors, including manufacturing, retail, electronics, food & drink, pharmaceuticals, construction, aerospace and energy, amongst others. The show covers all modes of transportation, including sea, road, rail, air and inland waterways.

Multimodal also organised three streamed seminars with industrial panel members to address a variety of industrial issues and concerns. Just a few of the topics included Brexit Briefing; Deal or No Deal - free trade zones; The Changing Market Place for Logistics and The Growing Challenge of City Logistics.

Professor Dongping Song, who organised the trip, said: “The event is a good opportunity to expose students to the current issues and new developments within a wide range of industries. The seminars provide students with the practitioners' viewpoints on topical issues”.
