Students on the Football Industries MBA (FIMBA) have just returned from a visit to UEFA headquarters, on the shores of Lake Geneva, at Nyon in Switzerland. They were accompanied on the trip by Professor Sue Bridgewater and Dr. Sue Minten, members of the School’s Centre for Sports Business.

UEFA, the governing body of football in Europe, host a one day simulation exercise based on managing a Champions League Game for a select number of University courses, including the Football Industries MBA. The students played a range of roles including venue director, media officer and venue services and sponsorship manager and had to solve problems that typically face UEFA when delivering the Champions League spectacle.

UEFA staff, including three FIMBA alumni, then presented on the current management and marketing operations of UEFA and students were offered valuable networking opportunities over lunch and coffee.

To top off the trip, students were able to have their picture taken with the Champions League trophy.
