BA Business Management with a Year in Industry student, Mark Rodmell, attended the National Undergraduate Employability (NUE) Awards following his nomination for Best Placement Student.

Mark attended the awards ceremony, which took place in London on 24th February, after being nominated by his placement employer Virgin Media.

Finalists for this category are judged to have made a genuine, measurable impact to their business whilst on placement. On being nominated, Mark said: "I decided to complete a year in industry as I wanted a real taste of working life prior to graduating to help me build and shape my future. It is clear looking back that the support from the University and Virgin Media allowed me to develop significantly during the year, enabling me to be shortlisted for the NUE award".

The event celebrates the outstanding achievements of all those involved in undergraduate work experience. The NUE Awards benchmark those employers, universities and students across the UK who have demonstrated commitment and dedication to the field of undergraduate employability.

Mark said: “Virgin Media is a flexible company so each day was really varied.  It wasn’t uncommon for me to be travelling and working in different offices. From day one my manager trusted me with large complex tasks. It was great to see I was a valued member of the team from day one.”
