The University of Liverpool hosted the ICAEW Business Game for first year students on the BA Accounting and Finance programme.

Students were invited to participate in the interactive business game which asked teams to identify the most viable business plan based on a series of financial information presented to them. The challenge assesses student’s ability to use data to make an informed business decision considering such things as capital available, start-up costs and environmental impact.

Students presented their ideas to Rebecca Crowther, Marketing executive in ICAEW’s recruitment team. Rebecca provided an insight into ICAEW, the work that they do and the global opportunities available to students. ICAEW is a world leading professional membership organisation for finance and accountancy that promotes, develops and supports thousands of members worldwide.

The task provided an opportunity for students to put theory into practice, delivering a pitch as part of a team to explain and justify their business approach demonstrating an understanding of the finance implications involved.

The ICAEW Chartered Accountant qualification, the ACA, is one of the most advanced learning and professional development programmes available. It is valued around the world in business, practice and the public sector. Exemptions are offered as part of the BA Accounting and Finance programme at the Management School.
