FIMBA cohort visit Etihad stadium
The Football Industries MBA cohort visited the Etihad stadium on the 10th February as part of the Sports Operations Management module.
Students and teaching staff from the programme visited the home of premier league club, Manchester City for an exclusive insight into the operations behind one of the UK’s largest clubs. It also involved a tour of the stadium including the press conference room, the dressing room, tunnel, pitch and merchandise store.
The trip was hosted by Management School Alumni, Danny Wilson and Igor Clare. Danny, who graduated from the Football Industries MBA in 1998 is now Head of Match Day Operations at the Etihad. His colleague, Igor, also a former student on the Football Industries MBA, works in Events Management after graduating last year. They were both able to speak to the students about the very high level of preparation that goes into a UEFA Champions League match.
Current student, Paulo Benaim said: “We were able to see how complex the operation of a stadium can be during the week of an UEFA Champions League match. The level of detail and effort was incredible and it shows how professional football can be at that level. I truly believe that after this visit, we are all going to see the organisation of such matches with different eyes and we are more prepared to face the challenges to come in the next weeks of the course.”
