Undergraduate students take part in the IBM Business Challenge

University of Liverpool Management School undergraduates fought off national competition to earn a place in the IBM Business Challenge semi-finals.

IBM hosts the UK’s largest interactive business game which is designed to develop employability and enterprise skills amongst undergraduate students. A total of 12 teams from the Management School entered the competition this year with eight teams successfully reaching the semi-finals which were held in Bristol.

The interactive game offers students a unique opportunity to improve their knowledge of the business world, put theory into practice and develop their team-working, leadership and employability skills by participating in a team-based competitive challenge. The UBC simulations are varied and challenging - and range from manufacturing to service businesses and social enterprises to ensure a rounded learning experience.

Whilst the eight teams narrowly missed out on a place in the final, students found the experience valuable and fully engaged in all the activities on the day. Gary Dewey, who mentored teams at the semi-finals along with Nick Drape and Helen Scott commented, “Congratulations to all of our teams for getting to the semi-finals. This is a massive achievement and students should be very proud of themselves!”
