Andrew Cornish, Chief Executive Officer at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, gave a talk to the MBA students as part of the MBA Guest Speaker series.

Andrew was appointed CEO at Liverpool John Lennon Airport in September 2014 and is responsible for the overall performance, management and strategic development of the airport company.

In his talk ‘Creating a Strategic Vision (and bringing it to life)’ Andrew discussed the strategic plan for Liverpool John Lennon Airport and explained how the airport has become a key economic driver for the region.

Andrew spoke to the MBA students about the changes he has made since his appointment and talked through the eight strategic priorities that needed to be met. He explained the journey to success was about balancing the company’s culture, ambition and values to meet the needs of the airport’s staff, partners and its two sets of customers: the airlines and the passengers.

Andrew particularly commented on improving the fundamentals. He said: ‘Infrastructure requires investment. By fixing the basics, the whole customer experience was dramatically improved.’

Andrew also spoke about his previous role as Managing Director at Manchester Airport Group where he oversaw the £80m redevelopment of Terminals One and Two. This role also saw him improve customer satisfaction scores and was described as being ‘instrumental’ in striking a deal with Emirates to bring the A380 to Manchester.
