Business game finalists visit Santander offices in Liverpool

Current year one students studying on the ACFI151 Business and Management module visited Santander offices in the heart of Liverpool’s business district.

As part of their assessment on the module, students were asked to submit a business plan as part of a team, considering business objectives, competitor analysis, value proposition and estimated costings.

The top five groups were invited to Santander to meet with Incubator Manager, Lynne Robertson. Lynne works closely with start-up businesses to help them build important networks and source professional mentoring. Santander’s Hub, provides a space in which entrepreneurs can work and develop their business in a co-working environment.

The skills that students gain from running their own business make them more employable as they will have experience in risk management, leadership as well as demonstrating their ability to seek opportunities.

The winning team “Going Places” were able to communicate their business plan clearly, with the ability to demonstrate a realistic aim that could develop and grow as a business idea.

BA Accounting and Finance students Connor Kavanagh, Michael Hulley, Anni Li and Michael Pino attended the event to receive their prize.

Michael Pino said” I would consider starting my own business as an alternative to a graduate career in a corporate environment. If you have a good idea then you may as well go for it at a young age. I think it’s a good way to broaden your horizons in terms of work after university.”
