Participants of the ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’ programme visited Santander Group Headquarters in Madrid.

During the visit, which took place from the 8th – 10Th July, MSc students networked with Santander employees, were given a presentation about the company and took a bus tour of the financial city. Patricia Murtagh, Director of Studies for MSc Management, also attended and gave a seminar about the Real Madrid business model.

Seventeen MSc students representing each programme were selected to take part in ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’. The scheme involves employability workshops, leadership seminars as well as employer visits to Bloomberg and Airbus.

The trip to Madrid was the penultimate event in the six-week programme. The Management School secured a bid for funding from Santander Universities Global Division (UK) with the aim to encourage and support students to development an international business mind-set. The last element of the programme took place last Thursday, which was a mock assessment centre delivered by the Liverpool and Sefton Chamber of Commerce.

Sadie Lawty, MSc Careers Advisor, organised the trip and commented: “This trip has provided our students with a fantastic opportunity to learn about how companies outside of the UK operate.  It has given them a global outlook and has better equipped them to start their careers in whichever country they choose. We know that employers look for well-rounded people with a mixture of academic achievements and employability skills so this trip will have undoubtedly helped students further their careers.”

During the visit, Santander also presented the Management School with a plaque in memory of the late Michael McKenzie.
