Ali Taghizadegan, PhD student and graduate of MSc Operations and Supply Chain Management has achieved one of the top-three places in the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) ‘North West Student of the Year Award 2015'. Ali accepted his trophy and certificate on the 26th June during an awards dinner at the Midland Hotel, Manchester.

Ali was nominated for the award by Professor Andy Lyons for his project reports whilst managing the lead purchase and implementation of a new ERP system at local SME, Paragon Scientific.  Ali started this project for his dissertation whilst studying MSc Operations and Supply Chain Management in 2014. Despite being offered a managerial position at Paragon, Ali opted to study for a PhD at the Management School but has continued to work with the company as part of his research.

Professor Andy Lyons, Director of Studies for MSc Operations and Supply Chain Management, acknowledged Ali’s achievement by commenting: “The ERP system is at the heart of the customer service and operations strategy development processes for Paragon Scientific. Ali’s contribution to the company and its specification and implementation was handled with a high level of competence and professionalism.”

Ali, on receiving his award, said: "I am very grateful to Professor Andy Lyons who has provided me with a number of opportunities to work with SMEs. This allowed me to put my theoretical knowledge into practice in highly dynamic and competitive global business environment.”
