Bethany Atkin, a current Marketing MSc student, has recently completed a marketing placement at the London-based publishers Hodder & Stoughton. She was selected from a number of applicants as the recruiters felt that the skills and knowledge gained on her marketing masters gave her the edge over other placement candidates.

During her placement, Bethany researched and wrote blogs, produced marketing reports, and updated the website. Bethany comments that: ‘I recently completed a research module called ‘Applied Business Research Methods’ which proved invaluable on my placement as it helped me to collect, analyse and interpret market data.’

Since the placement at Hodder & Stoughton, Bethany has secured a part-time paid position as Publisher and Marketing Developer for New Business Development Club. She is in charge of the creation and production of a new magazine called ‘Switch on to Business’ which is set to launch in May 2015. This publication will feature articles, news and direction for local businesses in Liverpool.

Bethany continues: ‘I believe that this role, as well as my placement will put me in good stead for a marketing career in the publishing sector.’
