A number of current MSc Economics students have been offered fully funded PhD Studentships from the North West Doctoral Training Centre and the University of Liverpool.

Sanna Laksá and Yunchou Wu have been awarded +3 PhD Studentships from the North West Doctoral Training Centre. Sirui Wu is currently on a 1+3 PhD Studentship also from the North West Doctoral Training Centre.

Professor Angus Chu, Director of Studies for MSc Economics, comments: ‘Given that the goal of MSc Economics is to select talented students to enter into academia, these achievements are extremely pleasing.’

Yunchou Wu, one of the successful candidates, further explains: ‘There is significant support from academics in the application process and research proposal. During the MSc, we've had an exceptional learning experience from Professor Angus Chu and the small groups we work in have allowed me to establish a good relationship with my classmates.’

Yunchou Wu, as well as fellow MSc Economics students Harvey Upton, Sanna Laksa and Christian Weber, have also been selected to participate in the Management School’s Leaders of Tomorrow Initiative. This employability programme helps talented masters students to work towards their career goals.
