Inaugural meeting of the professional services network

The University of Liverpool Management School officially recently launched a new initiative - The Professional Services Roundtable.

Set up by the Director the Management School, Professor Murray Dalziel and Professor Ansgar Richter, Chair in Management, the Roundtable offers our partners over four evenings a year a peer-to-peer platform providing insights into hot topics in the industry.  Each session will see a presentation by an invited speaker, a moderated discussion with topics and the overall agenda of the group driven by its members.

The first session on 20 May 2014 saw attendance from firms such as Credit Suisse, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Hill Dickinson LLP and KPMG.  The inaugural speaker was Ed Fishwick, Managing Director and Global Co-Head of Risk & Quantitative Analysis at BlackRock, who discussed what the Professional Services Industry can learn from the financial crisis.

Professor Ansgar Richter, the University of Liverpool Management School's Chair in Management argues that for a professional services firm to thrive, its strategy needs to fit its organisation structure and vice versa. He uses the notion of complementarities in order to describe such optimal fit. Complementarities in organisations have been found to be central drivers of firm performance. A recent article of Professor Richter was published by the Financial Times.

The Roundtable is more than just a networking group, there are valuable benefits to membership:

  • Access to a unique group of professionals and thought leaders
  • Continuing education for a firms top talent in a convenient format
  • Number of possibilities of interaction with a leading Management School e.g., invitation to private events, recruitment opportunities, privileged access to Management School programmes; syndicated research with Management School leading academics; tailor-made programmes for your firm.

The next Professional Services Roundtable will take place on Tuesday 16 September 2014 from 6.15pm.
