Phishing email targeting Universitites

Several universities in the UK, including ourselves, are regularly targeted with scam emails which often appear to come from the University Service Desk, Library or central administration and ask for logon details or suggest that your account is about to expire, directs you to fake website to logon using your credentials, which are then captured.

If obtained, your account details can be used to access services and data that you have permissions to use - such as your personal details in TULIP/SPIDER, your print credit, your modules in VITAL or to access and download Library resources.

Attacks on Library resources can lead to publishers blocking access to those journals and resources for all University users.

These type of emails are not legitimate and should be deleted.
