Colm Tóibín, Chancellor of the University of Liverpool, is widely celebrated as an Irish writer of great distinction. His novel Brooklyn (2008) was the Costa Novel Award, and his short-story collection The Empty Family has been shortlisted for the Frank O'Connor prize. In this exclusive event, Colm will be in conversation with the University of Liverpool’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dame Janet Beer, to discuss his latest novel The Magician, a deeply intimate portrait of German novelist and Nobel Prize winner Thomas Mann.
