The Doctor Will See You Now, written by full-time GP and TV personality Dr Amir Khan (MBChB 2004), is a fly-on-the-wall account of the GP’s crucial role in returning us to a healthy, stable society post-pandemic. Charting his 15 years as a GP - from rookie to becoming a partner in one of the UK’s busiest surgeries, Dr Amir Khan will share shocking, funny and heartbreakingly sad stories of life as an NHS doctor from his Sunday Times Bestseller.

The talk will incorporate the University’s The Great Read initiative, which this year included a ‘Changing Natures’ short story competition. Inspired by the theme of nature, excerpts of the winning entries in the staff and student categories will be read out by Dr Khan and an anthology of those entries will be presented to the winners.

A book signing with the author will be available through the festival bookseller, Blackwell's following the event.
