Dylan Inglis is an English university student (MSc Human Geography, Bristol) who speaks Basque with astonishing skill. He is also a polyglot who speaks – to different levels of command – French, Spanish, Chinese, Catalan, Italian and Georgian. Yet, among all those, Dylan feels closest to Basque. He has also become fully familiarised with Basque culture and has nowadays plenty of friends and contacts in the Basque Country. He plans to take a PhD about the effects of languages in our ecosystems and environment, with a especial focus on minoritised languages.

In this event, co-organised with the Liverpool Guild of Students’ Modern Languages Society, Dylan will give a brief presentation about the Basque language. Then, Gorka Mercero, Lecturer in Basque at Liverpool, will interview Dylan on the particulars of his relationship with the Basque language. Finally, Dylan will answer the questions from the audience.

This event is in partnership with the Basque Institute Etxepare.
