SRUK is a non-profit organisation with over 700 members, aiming to promote interaction among Spanish scientists working in the UK, to establish collaborations between public and private institutions in both UK and Spain, and to bring science and technology to the general public. The previous edition gathered over 100 researchers in Glasgow.
This year's edition will be the 7th Annual Symposium, a 2.5-day event which will be held on 28-30 June 2019 in Liverpool.
We have restlessly worked on a programme that includes well-known International and Spanish researchers, and covers a variety of topics where research plays a key role. Moreover, this edition will also focus on the role of researchers, science journalists and public engagement figures in communicating science and curbing the growing influence of pseudosciences and scientifically inaccurate information outside academia. There will be sections covering diverse topics, such as Environmental Science, Black-hole Physics, leading Chemistry and Materials topics, Bio-Clinical research and Linguistics. As a second part of the Symposium, we will hold a mini science festival open to the public. In order to achieve such a high-quality programme, our Society is financially supported by diverse organisations such as the Fundación Ramón Areces and the OCSA (Office for Cultural and Scientific Affairs of the Spanish Embassy in London), and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology.
If you are a Spanish Researcher working at the University, do not hesitate and sign up to meet other colleagues working in the UK and know their research. If you are not Spanish, don't feel excluded from this call! You can still join us for a high quality programme and meet other scientists working in the UK.
