For this, the final Flagship Seminar of the academic year in the Department of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology, we are delighted to welcome Prof Julia Bray, Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain Laudian Professor of Arabic in the University of Oxford and Fellow of St John's College, Oxford.

Julia will be leading a discussion about the role visual evidence plays in our disciplines: pictures of lost inscriptions; illustrations of early views of archaeological sites; images in manuscripts; and her own field of research, Arabic book culture and the Arabic picture poems.

Respondents are to include Ceren Kabukcu (Leverhulme Early Research Fellow) and Daniel Lowes (PhD student in Classics).

Pre-circulated papers are available.

There will be a reception after the event, to which all are welcome.
