As you may already know, early 20th century literature is an area of particular interest to Dame Janet and she has written introductions to four Wharton texts including The Age of Innocence (1995) as well as two full studies: Edith Wharton: Traveller in the Land of Letters (1995) and Kate Chopin, Edith Wharton and Charlotte Perkins Gilman: Studies in Short Fiction (1997). She has also published widely on early 20th century American literary figures, transatlantic relationships and cultures.
Following the lecture, there will be a drinks reception where you can meet with Dame Janet, Professor Julia Balogun, Dean of our Management School, my colleague Anita Irving and myself to hear the latest news from the University of Liverpool and your alumni community.
The event will take place at the British Consulate, located at 1 Supreme Court Road, Admiralty, Hong Kong. Guests are invited to arrive at 6pm for a welcome drinks reception, with Dame Janet’s lecture beginning at 6.30pm. Following the talk, there will be a drinks and networking reception which will close at 8pm.
Tickets for this event are free and can be booked online. If you have any questions about this event, or you or your guests have any dietary or access requirements, please contact Andy Harrison, International Alumni Engagement Officer, via: andy.harrison@liverpool.ac.uk.
