We will be welcoming a group of Japanese constitutional lawyers to Liverpool, along with a number of leading UK based scholars, for a day long workshop on the topic of 'Referendums and National Security'. This topic was chosen by our Japanese colleagues, in light of the fact that there have been discussions in Japan about a potential referendum to be held to amend their pacifist constitution. But there will be a wide range of papers on a variety of topics, and hopefully some interesting opportunities to compare and contrast across our respective constitutional systems.
