Dog excrement has been identified as a major public health concern in the United Kingdom and beyond. It also provokes feelings of disgust and raises questions about cleanliness and civility in the city. This public lecture will explore the past and present of dog mess in the city.

Chris Pearson (Department of History, University of Liverpool) will discuss the history of dog mess in cities, especially Paris, which is sometimes described as the dog mess capital of the world.

Artist David Joseph-Goteiner will then show some of his films inspired by Parisian dog mess.

Debbie Watson and Eric Morgan (University of Bristol) will introduce their Poo Patrol project which seeks to address the dog mess problem in Bristol.
All welcome.
