Recent and current research in a number of disciplines is transforming our understanding of the Irish Sea region in the period known as ‘the Viking Age’ (i.e. the late eighth to twelfth centuries CE).

At this conference we aim to exchange information and to float new ideas about the Irish Sea in the Viking Age from the perspectives of historical, archaeological, literary and cultural studies, with some contributions focusing particularly on the Isle of Man as a crucial nodal point in the region.
