Colm Tóibín is a novelist, essayist and journalist. Author of eight novels including The Master (winner of the Dublin IMPAC Prize), Brooklyn (Costa Novel of the Year 2009, made into an Oscar-nominated film, 2015) and, most recently, Nora Webster. His 2013 Broadway play The Testament of Mary was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play. Shortlisted for numerous major literary prizes, including the Man Booker, Tóibín has taught at many American universities, and is currently Mellon Professor of Comparative Literature and English, Columbia University, New York.
