Obesity is a serious and growing problem for the children of Liverpool and across the UK. Obese children face a miserable future with increased risks of premature diabetes, cardiovascular disease, common cancers and dementia, and obesity contributes to health inequality. Treating obesity and its consequences is rapidly becoming a crippling burden for the NHS, at a time when funding is being cut dramatically.
What can and should Liverpool be doing to position ourselves as trail blazers in driving health improvements for our children? How can we make Liverpool a truly ‘healthy city’?
