Dr Pedro Machado is an NIHR Clinical Post-Doctoral Fellow, based in the MRC Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases, University College London. He is also an Honorary Consultant in Rheumatology and Muscle Diseases at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

His primary research interest is the investigation of new therapeutic strategies in muscle diseases, particularly in Inclusion Body Myositis, a debilitating and currently untreatable muscle disorder. He also has an interest in the assessment (including MRI) and prediction of outcomes in rheumatic diseases, with a focus on muscle diseases and in axial spondyloarthritis.
