Zarko Alfirevic is Professor of Fetal and Maternal Medicine and consultant obstetrician at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, one of the largest maternity hospitals in Europe with more than 8,300 births per annum. He is also Head of Department of Women’s and Children’s Health at the University of Liverpool with more 50 research staff.
His main research interests are evidence based medicine and clinical trials in high risk obstetrics. He is Editor of the Cochrane Pregnancy and Childbirth Group and Chair of the Academic Board of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
He has more than 200 publications listed in PubMed and speaks regularly at the international meetings world-wide on the topics related to preterm birth, growth restriction, induction of labour and evidence based medicine.
