Title: "Chasing up ghost particles to address the matter- antimatter asymmetry in the Universe"
Abstract
Neutrinos were born from a conundrum and have continued to create problems for our models of the Universe. They are sub-atomic particles of neutral charge and are produced during natural radioactive decays. And, they are everywhere.
They are present in many types of nuclear reactions and are produced in nuclear power reactors and particle accelerators. But the most common sources of neutrinos are celestial phenomena — the birth and death of stars, collisions and explosions happening in space.
Refreshments will be served at 15.15 outside the lecture theatres
The Fröhlich Lectures are presentations by research leaders which are intended to be accessible to a general audience at the advanced undergraduate level.
