Glenn Gibson is Professor of Food Microbiology and Head of Food Microbial Sciences at the University of Reading. He was the first to coin the terminology of Prebiotic.
Professor Gibson’s research interest has been focused on the development and validation of functional foods, especially prebiotic and probiotics, and their effects on gut microbiota using molecular approaches. He has researched in the areas relating to how diet can be used to reduce risk of developing acute and chronic intestinal diseases.
He has been the president and founder member of the International Scientific Association of Probiotics and Prebiotics.
