Join me on a whistle-stop tour of a career spent working out what kinds of clinicians and interventions can make a real difference in people’s lives, and exploring the challenges and best ways to train clinical professionals. Discover how scholarship, research and bitter experience have turned me from a donkey-herder, life model and sometime palace security guard into someone capable of leading a clinical psychology training programme.

Ian C. Smith is a Professor in the Department of Primary Care and Mental Health and leads the Doctor of Clinical Psychology programme. He has a background as a clinician, but has worked for over twenty years in teaching and scholarship, training clinical psychologists and other people in therapeutic skills.
