Title: 'Chromatin regulation of RNA quality control: the good, the bad and the ugly in health and disease'Dr Manolis Papamichos-Chronakis is a Group Leader in Molecular and Clinical Cancer Medicine at the University of Liverpool. His research investigates how chromatin regulates RNA quality control, shaping gene expression and maintaining genome stability in cancer. In this seminar, he will present new findings that uncover key roles for chromatin in co-transcriptional RNA surveillance, premature termination of mRNA synthesis, and the resolution of genotoxic RNA–DNA hybrids known as R-loops, with important implications for cancer cell proliferation and therapeutic targeting. He will also discuss how these pathways contribute to resistance to radiotherapy and may influence tumour immune responses.
