The Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology at Liverpool University is hosting a conference on June 27th entitled "Collaboration: A Cooperative approach to achieving fairer justice".

A vulnerable person, lacking the ability to understand and communicate effectively in the justice system, for example due to mental ill-health, developmental issues, Learning Disabilities, Autism and other neurodiverse profiles, can be assisted by Intermediaries during police interviews, court hearings, legal conferences and trials. The Intermediary is a vital part of ensuring fair justice and effective participation, and the service is impartial and funded by the courts.

This year’s conference addresses collaborative working in the justice sector. The audience includes intermediaries, solicitors, barristers, advocates, academics and other interested parties working in the field.

The Intermediary Cooperative (TIC) is a not-for-profit social enterprise offering high quality HMCTS Appointed Intermediary services across England and Wales. Built on core social values, we are passionate about ensuring fair access to justice.

TIC invites you to bring your knowledge, experience and curiosity to our conference and engage with us in a multi-disciplinary day of talks and networking.
