Emma Flint was born and grew up in Newcastle upon Tyne. She graduated from the University of St Andrews with an MA in English Language and Literature, and later completed a novel-writing course at the Faber Academy. Since childhood, she has been drawn to true-crime stories, developing an encyclopaedic knowledge of real-life murder cases from the early 20th century. Her first novel, Little Deaths, was inspired by a crime that took place in 1960s New York. It was longlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction, for the Desmond Elliott Prize, for the Crime Writers’ Association Gold Dagger Award, and for The Guardian’s Not the Booker Prize.

Join us to hear Emma talk about her latest novel Other Women, based on the true story of a love triangle in 1920s London that ended in a horrific murder. The book was selected as a Zoe Ball BBC Radio 2 Book Club pick. Emma will also be talking about her writing process, how she became a writer originally and the process of finding an agent. This event will be chaired by Dr Melissa Raines from the Department of English.

Blackwell's bookshop will be facilitating a book signing after this event in the Waterhouse Café.
