To celebrate Earth Day and their 10th Anniversary, a team from the in-house Construction Contractors the University of Liverpool Construction Company Special Projects, will be taking part in a spring clean of the campus removing single use pollution from around the Campus.

Working in partnership with Trash Free Trails, and with input from the University of Liverpool teams at Sowing the Seeds of Sustainability, hedgehog friendly campus, sustainability and FRCS, they will clean a route which will start at their Head Office in the Rendall Building and then travel through the Campus passing all six of their current projects as well as covering large areas of our wild and green spaces concentrating on removing single use pollution from the vegetable planters and along the hedgehog highways.

The results of the above will not only leave a positive trace on the Campus for our Staff and Students, but will also help reduce micro plastics in our soils and foods and help protect the wildlife that we share our campus with.

Ground-breaking Citizen Science.

The team will be taking part in the innovative Trash Free Trails scientific study and will record every item removed during the clean, on the only database recording the levels of Terrestrial Single use pollution which will help inform the unique “State of Our Trails” report. By doing this it will enable them to develop an evidence driven action plan to reduce the amount of single use pollution on our trails and wild places around Campus.

This will be the first of what we hope will be many collaborations so please keep an eye out for the results of our Spring Clean and future initiatives as we leave a positive trace and aim to keep our campus Trash Free.
