Papagena: Nuns and RosesPapagena: Nuns and Roses at The Tung Auditorium

No props, microphones or gimmicks, just five stunning female voices form Papagena, whose members have worked with the UK’s leading ensembles including The Sixteen, VOCES8 and Tenebrae. Weaving together classical music, medieval chants, folk and contemporary ballads and new commissions from around the world, Papagena’s refreshing programming defies pigeonholing. The group has performed throughout the UK, broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and 4, Scala Radio and Classic FM, and released its debut album in 2017.

Papagena’s diverse programme ranges from sacred medieval and Armenian hymns to lilting folk ballads and lullabies, from plainchant to Caroline Shaw and Sandy Denny. Throw into the mix Purcell, Scarlatti, contemporary mouth music from Canada, a comedic new commission and the group’s cover of Sweet Child ‘o Mine and you have Nuns and Roses, something for everyone!

This concert will last approximately 50 minutes.
