Joan Triadú (1921-2010) was a Catalan literary critic, academic and writer. He was also a lector in Catalan language and literature at the University of Liverpool from 1948 to 1950, appointed by Edgar Alison Peers. As part of the centenary anniversary celebrations, the Department of Languages, Cultures and Film is delighted to host an afternoon of activities that will celebrate his work and the history of Catalan Studies at University of Liverpool. Do join us to find out more about Triadú’s work, his time in Liverpool and his and Edgar Alison Peers’s instrumental roles in shaping Hispanic Studies in the UK. Novelist Llucia Ramis will also take part in the event, discussing the clashes of cultures and cities in her work. And filmmaker Josep Alcover will be presenting and discussing his new documentary on Joan Triadú. We will finish the event with some Catalan wine and nibbles.
