The Minutes of Evidence Project

Thursday 19th May 2016, 2pm-3.30pm

Venue: Lecture Theatre 3, Rendall Building, University of Liverpool

Speaker: Dr. Jennifer Balint (University of Melbourne)

Dr. Jennifer Balint explained the development of the Minutes of Evidence Project, a collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous researchers, performance artists, school teachers, and community members and organisations in Victoria, Australia.

The project aims to spark public conversations about structural justice and how understanding the relationship between the colonial past and the present can bring about more just futures. She also discussed how the project is being used as a model for developing collaboration between academics and community organisations in Australia.

Jennifer is Senior Lecturer in Socio-legal Studies and Criminology at the University of Melbourne. She is currently a Chief Investigator on the Minutes of Evidence project and is the author of Genocide, State Crime and the Law (Routledge, 2012).
