Digital tools for testing and evaluation

DMSI is developing and using information visualisation techniques to support the interpretation and evaluation of the data analysis for theory testing and evaluation.

This involves the integration and cross-correlation of insights at various levels (i.e. the individual, community, organisation and society) across the five research themes.

We are developing and using 2D and 3D visualisations displayed on a large, interactive digital video wall. Immersive analytics is being explored to support interpretation of the data analysis, given the multiple parameters and levels of complexity. This research builds on existing fields in data visualisation, visual analytics, virtual reality, computer graphics, and human-computer interaction.

DMSI works closely with the Digital Innovation Facility (DIF) to develop new approaches to data analytics and information visualisation. This is in collaboration with the Geographic Data Science Lab which spans disciplines of econometrics, spatial analysis, spatial statistics, demography, population geography and computer science. In addition, DMSI is working with the Pandemic Institute and Institute of Population Health at the University of Liverpool.
