Eric passed away quietly on 01/11/2021 after a long illness. A committed community activist, trade unionist, historian and race equality champion, Eric was admitted to the Roll of Citizens by Liverpool City Council in 2017 in recognition of his active trade union involvement and also his important work educating thousands of people on Liverpool’s past through his Slavery History Tours of the City. Eric’s reputation spread far beyond the City and he gave lectures about Liverpool and slavery at universities in America, the Caribbean and in Ghana, where he was made an honorary African chief.
