LCI Takes First Place in Chinese Bridge Competition

Simon Oliver Griffiths, representing the Liverpool Confucius Institute (LCI), has won first prize in the 24th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition UK Regional Final.
The competition was held on 6th June at SOAS, University of London, with twelve contestants from eleven UK universities competing for the winning place. Simon, a student from Liverpool John Moores University, was nominated by our Confucius Institute and achieved this outstanding result under the dedicated guidance of our teachers Chen Sen and Liu Ying.
Simon delivered a powerful speech, showcasing his deep understanding of Chinese culture and demonstrating strong language skills throughout the competition. His stellar performance won over the judges and audience alike, earning him the championship title.
Notably, this is the first time LCI has won the championship in this prestigious national competition — a truly historic moment for our team and institution. Simon’s success is not only a testament to his own passion and commitment but also a proud reflection of our teaching excellence at LCI.
Please join us in congratulating Simon and in thanking our colleagues Chen Sen and Liu Ying for their support and guidance.
Liverpool Confucius Institute is open and accessible for both staff and students of the University of Liverpool, as well as members of the public.
