On September 15, local time in the UK, the Confucius Institute at the University of Liverpool held a language and culture event at the Higher Bebington Library for celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival, attracting more than 20 children and parents.

The cultural activity was made up of three parts: Mid-Autumn Festival story telling, poetry and dance exhibition, and calligraphy workshop. In the library lobby, children sat with their parents, and Miss Wang, a mandarin teacher, shared with them a legendary story of the origin of the Mid-Autumn Festival -- Chang 'e's journey to the moon. The students were fascinated by the Chinese story about the Mid-Autumn Festival for the first time.

After that, Miss Hu, one of the mandarin teachers, quoted a poem "Prelude to Water Melody" as an introduction to let students and parents fully experience the charm of Chinese poetry. A dance "Wishing You a Long Life" performed by Miss Hu is to add a splash of color for today's cultural activities.

In the calligraphy workshop, Miss Lin, one of the mandarin teachers, first explained the Four Treasures of the Study to the children and parents, and conducted a calligraphy demonstration. Students and parents were deeply interested in each stroke of Chinese characters. Through this activity, they really experienced the beauty of Chinese characters.
