University of Liverpool host 20th International Congress of ISPS
Following in the footsteps of some of the great International city conference destinations, the International Society for Psychological and Social Approaches to Psychosis (ISPS) hosted its biennial conference at the University of Liverpool. Making use of the summer vacation facilities on campus, the event welcomed over 500 delegates from across the world.
Alison Summers, Chair of ISPS 2017 organising committee: “We were delighted to be meeting in the exciting city of Liverpool. Carl Jung saw it as 'the pool of life' and its rich heritage (not just football and music) made it an energising setting for a conference thinking about change.”
The conference made use of a range of facilities on campus including the Foresight Centre for pre-conference sessions, Guild of Students for main plenary, drinks receptions, exhibition activity and seminar sessions; Chadwick Lecture Theatre, Maths Building and Central Teaching Hub for lectures and seminars; and en-suite bedrooms in the 4* graded Vine Court.
Summers continues: “The University certainly offered a warm welcome, excellent facilities, and our delegates left feeling inspired and reinvigorated. We were especially impressed by the fantastic event management support that the conference team gave us right through from our very first contact with them. Their local knowledge ensured we made use of the opportunities offered by being in the city of Liverpool, so we organised canapés at the Cavern Club and an evening aboard the ferry ‘cross the Mersey”.

The next ISPS UK conference, which will be on institutional racism in mental health, is on 13 November 2018, in London.
