Robyn

What are you studying and what do you enjoy the most about your course?

I am currently in my final year studying French and Italian. What I enjoy most about my course is just coming into lectures and putting my languages to use. Being able to say I can speak another language is something I’ve always wanted to achieve and it’s amazing I can do that now!

What are some of your hobbies and interests?

My main hobbies are artistic things such as acting, singing and having an appreciation for films, both in English and internationally. My favourite film of all time is La La Land – I am obsessed! I am also currently taking acting classes and hoping to join the University’s drama society this year.

What is your favourite thing about the university and Liverpool as a city?

My favourite thing about the University is the social life. There are always uni and social events that get everyone involved and the societies are amazing because they range over many different subjects; some are incredibly specific but could be ideal for you! The Guild is a great place to socialise too especially with their pub quizzes.

My favourite thing about Liverpool as a city is the food. There are so many options to choose from and there is such a variety with how multicultural the city is, I still haven’t tried even half the places I want to go to.

What was your favourite part of Career Coach training?

My favourite part of training was just getting to know everyone along the way as we all discover this exciting new role, not just with my fellow Career Coaches but with the entire Careers & Employability Team. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming it made training so exciting to be a part of.

What’s something new you discovered about what we do at Careers?

Something new I discovered was how many companies the Careers Studio works in partnership with. I knew of a few partnerships here and there through Handshake, but in the grand scheme of things I was completely shocked at the numbers!

What are you most looking forward to in your new role as a Career Coach?

Just being able to meet all the old and new faces of this university and co-exploring ideas they were never aware of or sure about. I love helping people so I will be in my element!

Mesoo

What are you studying and what do you enjoy the most about your course?

I study Law and enjoy learning how much law affects so much of our everyday lives.

What are some of your hobbies and interests?

One of my hobbies are escape rooms, and currently where most of my money is going at the minute!

What is your favourite thing about the university and Liverpool as a city?

My favourite thing about the Uni is how there's always events going on catering to making the student experience better, whether that be for academic or career purposes or just general fun. Liverpool, as a city, has so many beautiful areas to explore and relax, and the fact it's not too big of a city means you can easily settle in and feel at home.

What was your favourite part of Career Coach training?

I have to be honest and say my favourite part of training were the days we got to leave the Career Studio! We had some amazing trips to see local businesses and learn first-hand what employers are looking for in candidates. I found these days so insightful and feel excited to pass on the knowledge to students.

What’s something new you discovered about what we do at Careers?

I never knew about the amazing support offered to graduates by the Career Studio. There are so many schemes as well as staff in the Employer Connections Team that help guide grads smoothly into the world of work.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role as a Career Coach?

I’m looking forward to connecting with students and genuinely just helping boost their confidence in themselves and their potential.

Xuange

What are you studying and what do you enjoy the most about your course?

I'm doing mathematics, and what I enjoy the most is the analysis part of math such as using programming to analyse data.

What are some of your hobbies and interests?

I like listening to music as well as running and going swimming.

What is your favourite thing about the university and Liverpool as a city?

I like the colourful social life at university most apart from the university study environment. Liverpool for me is a really peaceful, quiet city, people are very friendly and the views are quite nice especially by those docks.

What was your favourite part of Career Coach training?

My favourite part was when we played those games that helped us to get familiar with all the possible resources and interaction skills.

What’s something new you discovered about what we do at Careers?

The large number of employers we work with such as Lidl.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role as a Career Coach?

I'm really looking forward to helping out other students with their career life questions by providing useful advice, and developing my potential in communication and organisation.

Marc

What are you studying and what do you enjoy the most about your course?

I'm an undergraduate Computer Science student and I'm really enjoying creating real-world computer applications. It's fulfilling to see people use a product you've spent time making and have it improve their lives!

What are some of your hobbies and interests?

I'm a huge film buff! In my spare time I enjoy writing and directing short films, some of which have premiered at film festivals.  Other than that, you can find me kicking a ball about or on the squash courts putting the work in.

What is your favourite thing about the university and Liverpool as a city?

I think Liverpool as a whole is unmatched. You can really feel the character and culture of the city. If I had to single out my favourite part of the University, it would of course be the two pubs on campus!

What has been your favourite part of training?

My favourite (and the most challenging) part of the training was the mock interactions with students. It made me get comfortable with the fact that I have a lot to learn when it comes to listening and communicating with others. That being said, it's been the session that I've learned the most from.

What’s something new you discovered about what we do at Careers?

I was stoked to discover how closely our Careers department works with SMEs within the Liverpool region. It's almost a hidden advantage of having access to such a rich directory of employers!

What are you most looking forward to in your new role as a Career Coach?

I'm looking forward to just chatting with students. I find it incredibly rewarding when I'm able to help a student find a sense of direction after coming into the Studio. The fact that they would have left better off than they came in really motivates me to do the job and I'm so excited to get stuck in!

Zuzanna

I'm a third year Microbiology student. I enjoy the laboratory projects and studying molecular science.

I love the diverse community at UoL. I've met incredible people with different backgrounds, interests and stories. Liverpool has a rich history, great architecture and feels very welcoming.

What has been your favourite part of training?

The visit to Sci-Tech Daresbury Campus was my highlight. Networking with the company VPs allowed me to make connections with employers in the greater Liverpool area for our students.

What’s something new you discovered about what we do at Careers?

The number and quality of resources available for students is amazing! From Handshake to our events, there is so much helpful information out there, free to use.

I'm looking forward to supporting the students with their aspirations. Seeing their success is super rewarding!

Sarah

What are you studying and what do you enjoy the most about your course?

I'm studying communications and media studies and what I love most about my course is that many modules are interdisciplinary! We draw from concepts in sociology, film, music, journalism, digital media, PR/Marketing, and much more. The way the media shapes society and our behaviour fascinated me, and I love learning how it influences our everyday life!

What are some of your hobbies and interests?

Some hobbies and interests of mine are cooking, keeping active in different ways, watching crime dramas and career coaching of course!

What is your favourite thing about the university and Liverpool as a city?

My favourite thing about the university are the social spaces e.g the libraries and guild and how it's such a central location in the city. I love the creative and busy atmosphere in the centre, but I also love how Liverpool has many green spaces and parks.

What has been your favourite part of training?

I know it sounds cliché, but my favourite thing about training has been meeting the other career coaches and going through it together! I have learned so much from everyone especially as we all do different degree disciplines, so I have made friends with people I wouldn't have usually got the chance to meet!

What’s something new you discovered about what we do at Careers?

I have learned about the amazing schemes offered within careers and employability at the uni for example Liverpool Interns and the LCR grad scheme!

What are you most looking forward to in your new role as a Career Coach?

I am most looking forward to learning about new industries and job roles, keeping an open mind to new opportunities and sharing them with other students!

In my spare time, I love travelling and being outdoors. I also enjoy building PCs, gaming and having deep conversations about the meaning of life.

What is your favourite thing about the university and Liverpool as a city?

My favourite thing about the university is how easy it is to contact professors and get advice from them about anything course related as well as the excellent services offered by the Career Studio. As for the city of Liverpool, my favourite thing is how multicultural it is.
