Success at Liverpool Chamber Innovation in Business Awards

The University of Liverpool’s Alison Pountney received a Leadership Innovation Award at the Liverpool Chamber Innovation in Business Awards at St George’s Hall on Thursday 26 October.

The annual awards celebrate local businesses and individuals who have driven their organisation forward throughout the year. There were high-calibre entries from some of Liverpool’s most exciting start-ups and its most established institutions.

Alison is the Entrepreneurship & Start-up Consultant within the Careers and Employability team at The University of Liverpool. She was presented with an award in a new category for 2023 that celebrates the achievements of those who have modernised and innovated to the advantage of their business, team, and wider community.

On winning the award, Alison said “Finding myself amidst such remarkable talent left me astonished when they announced me as the winner! This recognition truly reflects the unwavering commitment, tireless effort, and boundless enthusiasm that our team consistently delivers.”

In another success on the night, recent University of Liverpool MA Project Management graduate Noura Qusairy was crowned Young Person of the Year, in recognition of her work in establishing Yamama, a new sustainable and ethical Bar, Kitchen and Café in the Baltic Triangle with a focus on supporting refugees.

Alison said: “My heart brims with excitement for Noura. Witnessing our entrepreneurs graduate, kickstart their businesses, generate employment, and bolster the economic vitality of our city region is truly remarkable.”

Paul Cherpeau, Chief Executive of Liverpool Chamber, said: “Innovation is at the heart of all commercial success. As this year’s awards demonstrate, it can be found in businesses of all shapes and sizes.”
